Not everyone has time for a 30-mile overnighter or even a 2000-footer. Quick and easily hikes are sometimes the perfect way to get into the wild for well-deserved forest bathing. These three easy hikes are all under 2 miles and the perfect way to escape in a time crunch.
1. Esker Loop | Bethel
One of the latest trails build by Mahoosuc Land Trust, this 1.1-mile loop located on North Road takes you along the Androscoggin River. The Esker Loop is quiet and easily accessed by the parking lot to McCoy-Chapman Forest.

2. Valentine Farm | Bethel
Another trail off North Road, the Valentine Farm loops around for 1.2 miles. This universally accessible trail is also the home of Mahoosuc Land Trust headquarters, right on the conversation. The well-maintained crushed stone pathway makes for an easy walk through the forest. With ample parking, Valentine Farm is about to level up even more with the extension of the Bethel Pathway, which will eventually allow you to connect into the Village.

Coming in at 2.2 miles total, Step Falls is an iconic spot in Grafton Notch. The pathway is well maintained and just a bit of an incline to access a magical experience that is Step Falls. Swimmers can play in the cool mountain waters in the falls. Those not brave enough to bare the chilly temps can take in the scenic views from the top of the falls.

Although this trail is a little over three miles round trip, the experience at Emerald Pool is worth the extra distance. In fact, I highly recommend giving yourself a little extra time to take in the beauty that is Emerald Pool.
