8 Reasons to Ski Midweek

February 7, 2017 in Slope Stories - No Comments

When you can swing it, skiing and riding midweek is one of the greatest things ever, and doing it on Sunday River’s eight peaks is no exception. We love it so much, we made this list for you. Just don’t brag too much to your friends with regular 9-to-5 jobs.

1. Sleep in

When lifts don’t spin until 9AM, you get an extra hour to snuggle up in bed and drink your morning coffee in peace. What could be better?

2. Convenience

When there are no crowds to beat, you can roll in when you’re ready and park nice and close to the lodge. Of course, our shuttle drivers are always happy to give you a lift when it’s busy, but you won’t need them midweek.

3. Cost

Lift tickets cost the same every day if you wait and buy at the ticket window but if you buy your tickets online in advance you’ll pay much less on midweek days. It’s easy: check rates and pick the date you want, select your tickets, pay online, then pick then up at any ticket window when you arrive. Plus, we have special midweek deals for Maine and New Hampshire residents.

4. Ski right onto the lift

With few, if any, lift lines midweek you’ll get way more skiing than on a weekend, which makes up for the fact that lifts open at 9AM instead of 8AM. It also gives you a chance to chat with our friendly ticket checkers without holding anyone up behind you.

5. Fresh tracks in the afternoon

Want to score a run on perfect corduroy without having to wake up early? Here’s your chance. Whether you duck into the woods or stay on the groomers, you’re way more likely to find untouched afternoon snow during the week. And if it’s snowing all day? Jackpot.

6. Meet the locals

When you ski during the week, you tend to meet quite a few locals who know this place inside and out. They might be wary to take you under their wing at first, but most are happy to share some ideas during a lift ride.

7. Cheap eats and drinks

We recently revealed some of the top midweek deals on delicious meals and drinks in Bethel, Newry, and Greenwood, and you definitely don’t want to miss out on pizza nights, $5 burgers, and half-priced appetizers.

8. Score deals on lodging

With deals like the Two Tickets to Paradise and the Midweek Escape, you’ll have no trouble resting your head at one of our resort lodging properties with tickets and breakfast included.
