This Skier’s Christmas List

November 16, 2016 in Inside Look - No Comments

Before you grab your pitch forks and threaten to toss rotten tomatoes at me for bringing up Christmas before Thanksgiving, hear me out. The sooner you get your Christmas shopping done, the more time you have to ski before the holidays. It’s a win/win. I’ve compiled my go-tos from stocking stuffers to extravagant gifts for the ski bum in your life (which very well could be you…Treat yo’self).

I rarely go out to ski without shoving freshly shaken handwarmers into my mittens, and they’re compact enough to be the perfect stocking stuffer. Buy ’em in bulk and you can give them to everyone!

Under Armour Anything
Whether it’s a beastly base layer, a Sunday River logo sweatshirt, or a selection from Sunday River Sports’ collection of adorable kids outerwear, Under Armour products are built to last, super warm, and a must-have under the tree.

Constant Care
My laziness always beats out my desire to have freshly tuned skis. Constant Care allows you to drop off your skis at the end of the day with the guarantee that they’ll be waxed and sharpened before you hit the slopes again, as many times as you want throughout the season.

Tech Wash
When I unrumple my outerwear to prep for a new season of skiing, I like to make sure to put it through the wash with a waterproof-safe detergent to keep it clean without damaging the technical aspects. Making your gear last longer without looking grungy is the ulimate gift.

Heated Mattress Pad
Okay, I know. This one is not a necessity, but when the temperatures are perfect for making snow, they’re also too darn cold for my house that was built in 1890. Pair this with a nice set of flannel jammies and cozy socks for a toasty night’s sleep in preparation for a chilly day on the slopes.

SPY Goggles
As unpredictable as the weather is, I always feel prepared with my SPY Optics goggles. They have interchangeable Happy Lenses, which are basically a mood-boosting Instagram filter for your eyes. I rock a pair of Bravos, but you really can’t go wrong with any of these goggles.

Snow Brush
I keep a sturdy snow brush in my car all year long (hey, you never know what could happen), but having another one in the house makes your life a heck of a lot easier when you’re up before the sun and there’s a foot of snow on your car.

Safety always comes first, and for the clumsy, a pair of crampons—like Yaktrax—are essential for icy parking lots and walking on snow.

Skier’s Recovery Massage
Again, this one is indulgent, but man, is it worth it. You know those aches and pains that only coming from too many days in a row on the slopes? A Skier’s Recovery Massage, which is a 30- or 60-minute sports massage with hot stones and a focus on the legs from the Jordan Spa and Summit Health Club, is the perfect fix.

New England Pass
What better gift is there than unlimited skiing and snowboarding at Sunday River, Sugarloaf, and Loon Mountain? Remember, the College Pass deadline is coming up on November 30.

Still not sure what to get? Head over to Sunday River Sports for an amazing mix of outerwear, equipment, and logowear. And for the pickier people in your life, a Sunday River gift card is always the answer.
