Top 10 Moments on Instagram Last Winter

October 12, 2015 in Slope Stories - 2 Comments

With the 15-16 winter season right around the corner, I have to say, I’m getting pretty excited. Looking back at last winter’s highlights is taking the excitement to the next level. We’re not only sharing the list, but the story behind each photo.

10. Last December, Santa and his team took a break from the workshop to catch a few turns in the fresh snow.

9. What a sight! The sun-kissed slopes glowing in pink as the moon hovered over Jordan Hotel.

8. This day was one of those days I’ll remember for the rest of my life: February 19, 2015. The day after my birthday. It snowed a few inches over night and we really thought nothing of it. It wasn’t until our first run when the clouds parted and the rays of sunshine came down making the snow glisten in its power. Every moment of that morning (before the snow flurries returned) was magical.

7. If you’re not familiar with our beloved Eddy the Yeti, then you must pick up a copy of his book in the shop. This photo was a real life replica from the story where Eddy looks back on all the happy places he found during his day of skiing with new friends.

6. There is no denying the mountains of Maine are intoxicating. The snow-capped peaks, visually endless ranges, and gradient blues painting the mountainscape. This moment captured the true beauty of Mother Nature.

5. Snow days. Snow for days. Last February was an incredible month. Most afternoons were filled with near whiteout conditions that were so beautifully captured in a photograph. This shot is taken from the Foggy Goggle deck looking at South Ridge Express.

4. A very familiar sight in this number 4 post. Fresh cord, bluebird sky, and first chair is calling. I’m looking forward to those crisp groomers.

3. Dumping. It was the third time that week in February. It was endless. Every day Mother Nature opened up the skies and dropped inches on top on inches. We were 100% open and the boundary-to-boundary terrain was un-real.

2. This photo was taken by one of our own snowmakers at sunrise. The best part of this photo was that is was taken last November! We’re nearly weeks away from such a scene….

1. How can I argue this was the most favorited photo from last winter? Who doesn’t dream of this exact moment? Bluebird first tracks on fresh snow. Yum.

Still don’t understand how you counted here, the Santa Sunday lift picture had 2,282 likes – well exceeding the noted #1 here!?

Hi Josh! The likes on our instagram feed are constantly fluctuating, so when this post was created, our #1 was beating out the Santa photo for the top spot. See you on the slopes!
