Troy’s Top Trails

January 30, 2018 in After Hours, Slope Stories - 1 Comment

If you didn’t already hear, our very own Troy Murphy is heading to the Olympics. As a Bethel native and Gould Academy graduate, he’s been hitting the slopes of Sunday River since he was a kid and knows the mountain like the back of his hand. Want to ski like an Olympian? On the day of the men’s Olympic mogul finals on Monday, Feb. 12 we’ll be having Mogul Monday! We’ll be offering $23 lift tickets in celebration. Interested? You can buy tickets online, here, up until Feb. 11. And if you’re looking to hit some of the Mainer’s favorite trails, here’s a list of Troy’s top runs on his home mountain.

Trail Signs Agony

When agony is soft, it is awesome. Plus the hooting and hollering you get from the lift is epic!

Trail Signs EcstasyTrail Signs Sunday Punch

I love the narrow, flowy rolls and turns in Ecstasy followed by Sunday Punch where you can open it up to the bottom.

Trail Signs Lazy River

The epic rollers on Lazy River are awesome for popping off.

Trail Signs White HeatTrail Signs Shock Wave

Shockwave or White Heat when they’re good, preferably when loaded with snowmaking rolls or bumps (bring back White Heat bust n burn!).

Trail Signs T72

Any trail that currently has or has had a park on it has a soft spot with me because I used to spend so much time there with my friends in GACP. T-72 is one of my favorites for all the big features top to bottom.

Trail Signs Last Tango

Right off of Lazy River, Last Tango is one of my favorite glades. The trees are nice and open and the pitch is perfect. This trail is worth taking all the way down to the bottom.
