What’s the Deal?

January 26, 2017 in After Hours - 1 Comment

In case you hadn’t heard, ski bum is not synonymous with filthy rich, so enjoying all of the amazing bars and restaurants in any ski town is a science for locals. While I’m a happy patron at many establishments in this area, more often than not, I’m waiting for the best night of the week to hit all of my favorite spots. On any given non-holiday week in the winter, you’ll find these discounts in the Sunday River region. (Disclaimer: These are what we know of at the time; restaurants and their deals my change.)

All Week Long

Taps & Apps at the Millbrook Tavern, located in the Bethel Inn, offers half-price appetizers and $2 draft beers from 3-5PM. Joining a mug club is also a great way to save on liquid courage.

Head to Cho Sun Authentic Korean and Japanese Restaurant for Industry Night, which includes half-price sushi and karaoke after 8PM. If sushi isn’t your scene, the Mill Hill Inn hosts tapas and drink specials in the Studio Bistro Bar and Restaurant with three tapas selections for the price of two, and a half-price bottle of wine with two dinner entrees from 5-9PM.

Enjoy discounted margaritas and Coronas to sip alongside your Mexican meal at Rooster’s Roadhouse, or head to Trail’s End Restaurant and Tavern for their $5 burger special. Want to make this a date night? The Gem Theater offers movies all day at matinee prices.

Also known as pizza night, choose between a $5 one-topping pizza at Suds Pub, or Deep and Cheap at the Matterhorn Ski Bar, which features discounted pizza, appetizers, select entrees, and drink specials, or a $5 one-topping pizza at the Millbrook Tavern. Not up for pizza? Trail’s End is offering two tacos for $5.

To start things off, head to Rooster’s Roadhouse for half-price appetizers, then head to the Millbrook Tavern for $5 burgers and fries. If you’re in the mood for Italian, Jimmy Seas Pan Pasta also offers two-for-one entrees, which is practically four meals for the price of one. Trail’s End also has a two-for-one entree deal.

And if you’re part of the Bud Light Local’s Challenge you’ll get a free meal at a local establishment on 11 Wednesdays throughout the winter!

If Thirsty Thursday is your jam, head to Kowloon Village for specials on Polynesian drinks and bottled beer to sip with your Chinese food after 4:30PM. But, if thrifty Thursday is more your speed, $12 prime rib night at the Funky Red Barn is not only delicious but also an excellent deal. Missed pizza night? Get $5 pizza at Trail’s End.

Not exactly a deal, but definitely delicious, the Local Hub hosts Noodle Night every Friday, which offers a build-your-own Asian noodle bowl. Trail’s End is cooking up fish and chips for just $9.99.

Another treat for Saturday feasts is Indian Night at the Local Hub, where you can build your own korma, curry, or vindaloo dish. All royalty is welcome to Trail’s End too for queen cut or king cut prime rib.
